Epson are no strangers to the all-in-one printer market but their offerings have always been some what lacking in the built quality and value for money in terms of the cost of their printer ink cartridges. Epson seem to have had a bit of a rethink when it comes to the built quality on their latest model the Stylus SX400, it feels solid and well out together for a change. The cost of the Epson ink hasn’t change however, a set of Epson SX400 ink cartridges will set you back over £30, which is reasonable compared to other printers in this category but when you consider that a set of compatible inks for the SX400 cost £15 the genuine Epson cartridges seem a little over priced. On paper the SX400 looks like a very impressive device but this is not always the case as sometimes manufacturers can be quiet creative with the figures to put the printer into a better light. Take the Epson SX400 print speed for example, Epson claim it capable of 34pppm which is amazingly fast for an inkjet printer, but this figure relates to printing in draft quality where the print quality is barely readable and not suitable for any type of document. Increase the quality decreases speed considerable so in the real world the SX400 is not capable of 34ppm. This seems to be only thing Epson have exaggerated about as the rest of the SX400 functions are impressive, the print and scan quality are excellent and the scanner is fats too. The photo copier work without the need for a PC and strikes a good balance between the quality and speed necessary for a photo copier. First impressions of the SX400 are that it’s a good all rounder with a lot to offer and a reasonable price tag.

The Stylus D92 is the entry level printer to Epson’s range so you wouldn’t expect much from this cheap little printer. One thing that isn’t cheap however are the replacement Epson D92 ink cartridges, they consist of four individual printer cartridges and for a full set they cost the same as the printer. A cheaper alternative is to use compatible ink cartridges which are currently retail for around 60% cheaper than the original Epson printer ink cartridges. When you first start using the D92 the first thing that notice is that its very loud when operating, especially when feeding paper. It easy to install and even on the latest Windows Vista which is notoriously different to get printers to work with, it’s also compatible with all the latest MAC OS software as well. Being a budget printer the D92 doesn’t come with much bundled software but does come with some very basic photo editing software for removing eye and other such photo enhancements. Printing with the D92 is easy but its not the fastest printer in the world, in fact its one of the slowest, I originally thought mine was faulty as it wasn’t printing anywhere near the speed Epson say of twenty five pages per minutes but after reading some other reviews online I found that the three pages per minute I was getting was normal and the Epson claim is greatly exaggerated for everyday printing. The prints produced by the D92 are very good even the photos are pin sharp with great realistic colour tones. In summary the Stylus D92 is a good buy if you don’t mind waiting for your print outs if not then it not the printer for you.
Communicating with my other friends through online is one of the best and easiest way for us. Through internet we were able to see each other even if we are living in different places and countries. We see to it that we are updated of the happening we are at too. After work and during my rest days, I used to have a chat with my friends or relatives abroad.
One time, we are in the middle of our conversation when suddenly my cousin got offline. I wonder what happened that’s when I received a message from her that her laptop had a dump. And so I called my computer technician friend, and then he told me that my cousin’s laptop might need a memory upgrade. He told me a site where she can order for mac memory for her laptop. According to him, this site is the easiest way to add laptop & notebook memory since it is online and my cousin is living abroad. After that, I told my cousin exactly what to do as instructed by my friend and fortunately, her laptop opened up again and we really had a great time chatting with each other again…

Inkjet printers are the dominant printer for homes and small offices, but sometimes people need a little more in terms of print speed and crisp text printing. A laser printer is the obvious choice for these situations, but they are expensive especially ones that print colour, Samsung is trying to change this with their CLP-300n. The Samsung CLP-300n is a network ready fully functional colour laser printer with a price tag only slightly bigger than an inkjet and reasonable running costs to. With a Shape that resembles jam jars more than printer cartridges the Samsung CLP-300n toner cartridges yield fewer pages than normal Samsung toner cartridges but they also cost less, which means they have a cost per page of around 10p for colour prints and 2p for black prints. While print speeds for the CLP-300n are a little slow at 16ppm for monochrome and 4ppm for colour, print quality is generally good. Black text on a white background is very good as are the images, although slightly fuzzy round the edges. The only problem the CLP-300n seems to have in terms of printing quality is with black text on a grey background, where there is a shadow to the text. If you need a cheap printer for a small work group or single user with simplicity, speed and quality of a mono laser but with the option to print colour, the CLP-300 is a very attractive offering.
